Prepared for Snow and Icy Roads?
Winter is here! We have snow and or ice on all the roads around Central Oregon. Are you and your vehicle prepared for the drive to the store or across the mountain pass? Here are a few tips that will make sure your trip is more comfortable and safer.
For you the driver:
Be well rested before driving. Get a good nights sleep before embarking on that long trip or if possible take a short nap before leaving. Make sure you have the following items in your car: Water, food (snacks of some sort) at least one blanket, flashlight (good to have one that actually works), cell phone with charger, ice scrapper and de-icer.
For your vehicle:
Traction tires on all four wheels, whether studded or not, tire chains(there are times when chains are required even if you have traction tires). A small steel shovel and some sand or kitty litter for emergency traction use.
Keeping you and your vehicle prepared will help make your trip safe and enjoyable.
